John Tracy

Dr. John Tracy is the Boeing Company’s Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President of Engineering, Operations and Technology. In this position, he oversees the development and implementation of Boeing’s technology investment strategy and provides strategic direction to functions, business organizations, and initiatives involving more than 100,000 employees. These include Boeing’s Engineering, Operations, and Supplier Management functions; the company’s Information Technology, Research and Technology, Test and Evaluation, Intellectual Property Management, and Environment, Health and Safety organizations; as well as Boeing’s Development Program Excellence and Information Services and Information Management initiatives. Previously, Dr. Tracy was Vice President of Engineering and Mission Assurance for Boeing Integrated Defense Systems (IDS). In this role, Dr. Tracy had functional management responsibility for the IDS engineering processes, engineering tools, and the 32,000-person engineering team.

Dr. Tracy’s honors and awards include being an Elected Member of the National Academy of Engineering, a Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, and a Fellow of American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Dr. Tracy has authored more than 35 publications, received numerous Hispanic Engineering honors, and serves on the Board of Trustees for the Illinois Institute of Technology and on the engineering advisory board for several leading universities.

Dr. Tracy earned his PhD in Engineering from the University of California, Irvine, and his master’s and bachelor’s in physics from California State University, Los Angeles and California State University, Dominguez Hills, respectively.
